“The Current and Future State of the Economy of the United Kingdom and Policy: An Economic and Political Outlook”
Daniel Gallagher will discuss the UK’s economic recovery since the financial crisis, including the Government’s response, and highlight current UK economic policy debates.
Dan Gallagher was appointed Economic Counsellor at the British Embassy in June 2014. From July 2011 Dan was First Secretary, Economic at the Embassy. Before arriving in DC, he worked for nine years in the Macroeconomics Directorate of the HM Treasury. He worked variously as Private Secretary to the Chief Economic Adviser; an economist advising Ministers on house prices, household consumption, GDP and inflation; on the Treasury’s economic forecast; and most recently lead the Treasury’s analysis of the UK labour market through the global financial crisis.
Dan received a Master’s degree in economics from Birkbeck College, University of London in 2008. He gained an undergraduate degree in economics at the University of Bath in 2003.
