“The Fiscal Cliff is Different”

Washington policymakers could avoid the end of 2012 fiscal cliff, but the odds are high that their failure to enact permanent tax rates and appropriations will cause taxpayers to postpone investment and to accelerate dividends and capital gains late this year, which will hurt the economy. Mr. Davis will discuss options for avoiding the fiscal cliff as well as the political realities working against them.
