Thomas Laubach

"Measuring the Natural Rate of Interest: International Trends and Determinants" 

Thomas Laubach is the Director of the Division of Monetary Affairs at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.  Prior to this role, he served as associate director in the Division of Research & Statistics from 2012-2015, as a professor at Goethe University in Frankfurt (2008-2011), and as an economist at the Board (2000-2008) and at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City (1997-2000).  His areas of research include imperfect information in macro models and the relationship between the term structure of interest rates and the macroeconomy.  He obtained a masters in Economics from the University of Bonn and a PhD in Economics from Princeton University.
