"Emerging Trends in Occupational Safety and Health Data"

Workplace safety data published by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Injuries, Illnesses, and Fatalities (IIF) program are the most comprehensive measures of on-the-job risk facing American workers. These data include fatal incidents from the Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (CFOI) as well as nonfatal incidents from the Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses (SOII). This presentation will focus on what current BLS data can tell us about workplace safety and how BLS is providing new data to better meet the needs of our diverse set of users.

Jill Janocha Redmond is an economist for the U.S. Department of Labor and has worked at the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) for the past decade. She has written and presented on a variety of topics within the occupational safety and health community including high risk groups of workers, fatal work injury experience between the U.S. and EU, and methods to expand knowledge of the worker safety experience.
