"Clean Energy Economics:  Rapid Change Ahead"

Peter Kelley provides strategic communications for the American wind energy industry, overseeing issue advocacy campaigns, media relations, social and opinion media, and multimedia production at the American Wind Energy Association.

He was previously principal of RenewComm LLC, a PR firm for clean energy companies and nonprofits, whose clients included GroSolar, Abengoa Solar, Qteros, E3 Biofuels, Rocky Mountain Institute, and the United Nations Foundation’s Energy Future Coalition.

He held the top communications job at three national environmental groups: the League of Conservation Voters, National Environmental Trust (later renamed the Pew Environment Group), and American Rivers.

He was director of the National Security News Service and covered politics for Newhouse Newspapers in Washington, D.C. He began his career as a newspaper reporter in Pennsylvania and Michigan.

He has been a Paul Miller Washington Reporting Fellow; adjunct professor at American University, where he taught Public Communications Management; and communications coach for the University of Maryland’s winning team in the international Solar Decathlon.

Peter holds a Bachelor’s in Government from Harvard University, with a minor in economics. He was student manager of the Harvard Glee Club. He enjoys singing in the choir at All Souls Church in downtown Washington and playing tenor sax in the Capitol Lab Band. He is married and lives in the Waterfront neighborhood of Southwest D.C.
