 The Current and Future State of the Economy of the United Kingdom: An Economic Outlook”

Alice Campbell will discuss the UK’s economic recovery and highlight current UK economic policy debates.


Alice Campbell was appointed Economic Counsellor at the British Embassy in September 2015.  Prior to her move to Washington DC she worked for Her Majesty’s Treasury in London for 5 years. Her roles in Treasury included 4 years working on sanctions and illicit finance issues leading policy on financial sanctions against regimes including Iran and the Arab Spring countries. More recently was responsible for influencing international money laundering and terrorist financing policy and delivering G8/7/20 and Overseas Territories commitments on tax and transparency. Before joining the international group she worked on a cross government project to improve transparency in public spending.  Alice graduated from Cambridge University in 2004 where she read Geography. After a number of years working for an expedition company, mostly working in Latin America, she joined the Treasury as a policy advisor in 2010. She received a Graduate Diploma in Economics from Birkbeck College, University of London with distinction in 2011.

Drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be provided in the British Embassy bar following the presentation (according to the Washingtonian – one of the best ‘places you can’t go’ in DC)
